Because a veneer covers only the visible side of a tooth, it can change the shape, size, and color of your smile without replacing the whole tooth. According to the Cleveland Clinic’s overview of dental veneers, they can conceal chips, cracks, gaps, and discoloration.
At Higher Standards Dental Studio, Dr. Rickin Vibhakar offers custom porcelain veneers as part of our cosmetic dentistry services in Decatur. He takes time to learn what bothers you about your smile, checks the health of your teeth and gums, and helps you decide whether veneers fit your goals.

Veneers work best on healthy teeth with cosmetic concerns.
Small breaks or uneven edges can be covered for a smoother, more even look.
Some discoloration does not respond to professional teeth whitening, but a veneer can mask it.
Minor spaces between front teeth can sometimes be closed without orthodontic treatment.
Teeth that look short, pointed, or uneven can be reshaped to blend with the rest of your smile.
During your consultation, Dr. Vibhakar can explain which approach makes the most sense for your teeth, budget, and timeline.
Porcelain veneers are custom-made from impressions of your teeth and resist staining better than natural enamel. They are a popular choice for patients who want to change the color or shape of several front teeth at once.
Best for: Color and shape changes on several front teeth
Visits: A few, from consultation to placement
Lasts: Typically 10 to 15 years with proper care
Composite veneers use the same tooth-colored resin as composite bonding and are shaped directly on the tooth, so they are made chairside instead of from impressions.
Best for: Smaller changes and tighter budgets
Enamel removed: Little or none
Dr. Vibhakar checks your teeth, gums, and bite first, so your veneers have a healthy foundation.
Clear aligner therapy may be a better way to straighten them before any cosmetic work.
We address it first through our periodontal care so your results have a healthy foundation.
Dr. Vibhakar evaluates your bite, because grinding or clenching can put extra stress on any restoration and shorten the life of veneers.
A crown covers the entire tooth to add strength, so Dr. Vibhakar may suggest one through our restorative dentistry services instead.
A health history review and exam with intraoral cameras and digital impressions. You talk through the shape, shade, and length you have in mind, and Dr. Vibhakar checks your bite.
A small amount of enamel is removed from the front of each tooth so the veneer sits flush. Temporary veneers may be placed while your final set is made.
Dr. Vibhakar reviews the fit, shape, and color, bonds them in place, and adjusts your bite. Most patients return to normal activities the same day.
Bonding is another option for smaller fixes. Dr. Vibhakar recommends the one that fits the condition of each tooth.
Covers: The front surface only
Enamel removed: A small amount from the front
Best for: Changing the color or shape of several teeth at once
Covers: A chip or gap
Enamel removed: Little or none
Best for: Minor touch-ups
Covers: The entire tooth
Adds: Strength after a large cavity, fracture, or root canal
Best for: Badly damaged teeth
Each pair shows the starting point and the finished result. Every mouth is different, and results vary from person to person.
Veneers can cover chips, discoloration, and uneven edges on front teeth for a brighter, more balanced smile that still looks natural.
A new crown and veneers can be planned together so front teeth match in color, shape, and size.
Brush twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush and nonabrasive fluoride toothpaste.
Floss once a day to keep the edges of each veneer clean.
Avoid using your teeth to open packages. If you grind at night, let us know.

Porcelain veneers are custom-made from impressions of your teeth and resist staining better than natural enamel. Composite veneers use tooth-colored resin shaped directly on the tooth, so they do not require impressions.
Porcelain veneer treatment usually takes a few visits: a consultation, a visit to prepare your teeth, and a final visit to bond your veneers in place.
A small amount of enamel is removed from the front of each tooth, and we use local anesthesia for veneers when needed. Most patients return to normal activities the same day.
Veneers can close minor gaps and even out uneven teeth, but if your teeth are crowded or rotated, clear aligner therapy may be a better way to straighten them before any cosmetic work.
If chips, stains, or gaps have kept you from smiling freely, Dr. Vibhakar can review your goals, examine your teeth and gums, and give you an honest recommendation, whether that means veneers, bonding, whitening, or another approach.
